The climb passes through lush forest, open grassland, moorland, and rocky terrain as you gain elevation. The lower slopes are rich in wildlife, while higher sections provide dramatic views across the surrounding landscape.
The main trekking route is the Momella Route, which offers a gradual ascent and beautiful views of Mount Meru and Arusha National Park.
Summit Experience
The summit of Mount Meru offers spectacular views, including a striking perspective of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. The final ascent along the crater rim is challenging and rewarding, making the climb a memorable experience for adventurous travelers.
Mount Meru is also often used as preparation for trekkers planning to climb Kilimanjaro.
Convenient Location
Located within Arusha National Park and close to Arusha city, Mount Meru is easily accessible and can be combined with a Tanzania safari or a Kilimanjaro climb.
